On-the-spot cost estimations for radio ad campaigns. A novel, mobile-first approach would enable their representatives to close deals faster, anywhere.
 
 
 
 

Challange

How can IheartRadio’s sales team create accurate radio ad campaign proposals on the go and give their clients a baseline campaign proposal, which will get them a step closer to closing a deal?

Initiation
The project originated from an on-site design sprint to validate the concept's feasibility. Collaborating with clients and CI&T developers, we identified key functional and technical requirements for an effective mobile app. It’s also integrates and relies on IHR’s existing campaign builder platform.

Users
IHR sales reps usually have specialty and deep knowledge of the demographics at specific geographic markets.
They are traveling around their market for meetings. IHR already have a very robust web-app for creating campaigns, but using it at a meeting was hindering on-site sales and eventually limited the reps’ ability to have productive pitches.

Conversations with reps highlighted the most important details needed to model and effective price, and some insights led to shortcuts in the workflow. Additionally, other some reps suggested features that may help them during meetings, without the need to create a proposal at all.

Solutions

Insights

  • I focused on a simple step-by-step flow that minimizes data input and maximizes accuracy.

  • Since reps are usually attached to specific geographic locations, setting up location could be done once, and edited via a secondary menu.

  • For a faster creation process, I the ability to duplicate older campaigns, and editing them, turning them into templates.

  • To prevent cognitive overload while creating the campaign, instead of using a form that collects all the information at once, I opted to create task-focused screens (Calculator, Date picker etc.) this also help make the development simpler and allowed flexibility if we wanted to add of remove steps from the process.

  • The generated estimation could be shared to the client via ios share menu.

  • Each campaign that was created was also added to the internal campaign web-app tool (based on Salesforce CRM). This allowed the rep to continue working on it seamlessly at their office, and IHR gain valuable sales analytics data about the performance of their offerings.

 

Starting a new campaign creates an template filled with relevant data.

Outcomes


The project was accepted as a proof of concept, CI&T’s contract with IHR continued.
